Right after July 4th i  flew straight to Jackson Hole Wyoming and a short drive across the state line i ended a the Swan Valley South River Outfitters at Natural Retreat Properties. This property is owned partially by Rochofeller Family.

This trip was planned little over a year ago. Last year i had an opportunity to stay and fish at this lodge in September. Unfortunately, September isn’t the best month to fish there. Last year i fished with the group from all over US. This group was gathered together by Albermarle angler guiding service in Charlottesville Virginia.

Scott is very detailed and a great host for any trips through this outfitter.

Natural Retret/ South River Outfitter is located on the bank of the Snake River in Swan valley. Snake River is a bit intimidating, but guides are very professional and very skilled to row the boat. Boat can handle two anglers casting at the same time. If you’re not working banks you won’t catch a LOT of fish.

June and July is the month for dry fly hatch and fishing can be extremely good.  I like to fish this river with a dry terrestrial dry bug and two nymph droppers to give some options to picky fish. Snake river has a few trout species, Rainbow, cutthroat and Cutbow ( cutthroat and rainbow mix).

5wt and 6 wt rods are sufficient. Leader tippet i used 3x and 4 x. Fly sizes range is all over the place.
